Croatia 2024
Our first trip to Dalmatia: islands, national parks and old towns on the quay.
Sailing trips / Croatia 2024 sailed
In 2024 we discovered Dalmatia, and it has been our favourite area ever since: more than a thousand islands lie off the coast, the water is clear and almost every evening brings a different harbour or a new cove.
North of Split two detours are especially worthwhile: Krka National Park with its waterfalls, reached by sailing up the river to Skradin, and the barren Kornati, an island world that looks like the moon.
The route
A typical week in this area. We decide the actual route on board, depending on weather and crew. ≈ 118 nm.

North along the coast into one of the best-sheltered bays in Dalmatia.
- Day 2Rogoznica → Šibenik → Skradin 22 nm
Through the St Anthony Channel to Šibenik and up the Krka river to Skradin.
- Day 3Skradin (harbour day)
By excursion boat to the waterfalls at Skradinski buk.
- Day 4Skradin → Žirje / Kornati 25 nm
Out to the outer islands. Kornati National Park requires a ticket.
- Day 5Kornati → Primošten 20 nm
Back to the coast to the old town on its peninsula.
- Day 6Primošten → Drvenik Veli 14 nm
Anchor in the turquoise Krknjaši bay.
- Day 7Drvenik Veli → Split / Trogir 15 nm
Back to base and hand over the boat.
Good to know
- In Krka National Park you can only sail as far as Skradin; further upstream you take the excursion boat.
- Kornati National Park tickets are much cheaper online or from the rangers than bought on the water.
- With a bora warning (cloud cap over the mountains, falling temperature) head for a well-sheltered harbour.
