Sailing with Traumsegeln
Traumsegeln is not a tour operator. We charter a yacht together and share the costs. So that everyone knows where they stand, each crew member signs a short crew agreement before the trip. Here are the main points.
Charter together, share the costs
- The yacht is rented from a charter company. Charter, deposit, fees, diesel and the kitty are split equally among the crew.
- The skipper makes no money from the trip. There is no travel price and no package holiday in the legal sense.
- Costs are paid in two instalments: a deposit when you confirm, the rest before the trip. Dates and amounts are in the agreement.
The skipper is in charge
- The skipper is responsible for boat and crew. The skipper’s instructions on safety, route and manoeuvres apply, especially in wind and weather.
- On the first day there is a safety briefing: life jackets, harnesses, fire extinguishers, radio and man-overboard drill.
Safety on board
- Wear life jackets in strong wind, at night, in fog and in the tender.
- No alcohol while under way. A glass of wine in the evening in port or at anchor is of course fine.
- If you need medication or have health restrictions, tell the skipper beforehand, in confidence.
Insurance and deposit
- A deposit insurance is taken out for the yacht so that no one has to pay large sums alone in case of damage.
- Your own trip cancellation insurance is recommended. If you cancel and find no replacement, you pay your share of the costs.
- Every crew member needs valid health insurance for the destination.
Pitching in
- Everyone helps: casting off and mooring, cooking, washing up and cleaning the boat on the last day.
- Consideration in a small space: quiet hours, a tidy cabin, careful use of water and power.
You will receive the binding crew agreement with dates, boat and amounts to sign before the trip.
