Sailing with us
Frequently asked questions
What you want to know before your first trip. Missing a question? Just write to me.
Do I need sailing experience?
No. Many crew members had never been on a yacht before. On the first day there is a safety briefing, and you learn the ropes along the way. If you like, you can steer, hoist sails and help with mooring.
How much does a trip cost?
We sail privately and share the costs: yacht charter, final cleaning, harbour and buoy fees, diesel and a kitty for food and drinks. Your travel comes on top. I will give you the exact amount per person once boat and dates are fixed.
Where do I sleep on board?
In double cabins with your own berth. Usually two cabins share a bathroom. Bed linen and towels are included or can be booked, depending on the charter company.
What should I bring?
A soft bag instead of a suitcase, shoes with light-coloured soles, sun protection, a warm jacket for the evening and rain gear. The full packing list is in the crew area.
What if I get seasick?
It happens to almost everyone once. Fresh air, looking at the horizon and a job on deck help. Discuss tablets or patches with your doctor or pharmacist beforehand. If needed, I choose shorter legs in sheltered waters.
What happens in bad weather?
Safety always comes first. I check the forecast every morning. In strong winds we stay in port or find a sheltered bay. The route adapts to the weather, not the other way round.
Do I need to be able to swim?
Yes, basic swimming is required. There are life jackets for everyone on board; we wear them in strong wind, at night and in the tender.
How do I sign up?
Use the contact form with the topic “Sailing with us / request a place”. I will get back to you with dates, boat and costs. Once the crew agreement is signed, your place is confirmed.
